living green: environmental
& social
The
Townhouse Hotel & Conference Centre has always participated actively in its community
though various social responsibility projects. Through its commitment
to the community and recognizing the impact of the future of
our children on the Economy, the hotel was spurred into a more
vigorous and structured approach to raise funds. “Our
Kids of the Cape Fund” was established in March 2007 and
is registered as a Non-Profit Organization with the South African
Department of Social Development. This will ensure that the
Fund is managed and funds distributed according to best practice.
Animal Rescue is
a registered non-profit organisation run entirely on public
funding.

environmental initiatives
In September 2009 Townhouse Hotel & Conference Centre elected a green team under the chairmanship of Stefan Schmidt (head chef) to represent all the departments. The green team has been achieving great results especially in the areas of recycling, community projects and energy efficiency.

silvermine project
The Townhouse Hotel & Conference Centre and Vineyard Hotel & Spa are involved in an environmental community program called Adopt a Plot. We have adopted an 8.5 hectare plot in the Silvermine section of Table Mountain National Park. The staff work here monthly to rid this area of alien vegetation.
